Tim Hortons announced today that it will temporally stop accepting reusable cups brought in by fans over concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak.

Additionally, the company says it is delaying the distribution of the 1.8 million reusable cups that they had planned to give away as part of the brand’s 2020 Roll Up the Rim contest.

“For any guest that brings a reusable cup to our restaurants and purchases a hot beverage scanning their Tims Rewards card or app, we will honour the three digital rolls described in our campaign, however, the guest will be provided their beverage in a recyclable paper cup,” the company said in a statement Friday.

Though health officials have not recommended any changes to its current procedures, Tim Hortons says it is making the change after listening to its restaurant owners and comments from its guests.
