Police in Halifax have charged Halifax rapper – ‘Certified’ – Carvel Clayton with second-degree murder following the shooting death of Shakur Jefferies on Saturday, November 12.
Clayton, 21, has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Monday.
Jefferies, 21, was found dead by police near the Crown on Regency apartment building at 610 Washmill Lake Drive in Clayton Park after responding to a call for shots fired in the area at around 5 p.m.
Police took five males into custody in the general area of the incident shortly after 5 p.m. One suspect was released.
A second 21-year-old man had his parole revoked as a result of this incident and will be returned to the custody of Correctional Services. The remaining two suspects were released without charges
Police do not believe the incident was random.
