McDonald’s Canada is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the brand’s most recognizable menu item by bringing back the Big Mac Bacon for a limited time.

First launched in 2017, the Big Mac Bacon features two all-beef patties, special sauce, bacon, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions – on a sesame seed bun.

As part of the launch, McDonald’s is running a national billboard campaign featuring a new series of ads comparing the Big Mac Bacon to a piece of art.

When the Big Mac Bacon was first unveiled last year, it sparked a national debate among Canadians from coast to coast to coast on whether a Big Mac with bacon is still a Big Mac. According to a survey released by McDonald’s, more than 60 per cent of participants agreed – a Big Mac with bacon is still a Big Mac.

Invented by McDonald’s franchisee Jim Delligatti in Pittsburgh in 1967, the Big Mac first appeared on national menus across the United States and Canada in 1968.

Big Mac Bacon can be found for a limited time a participating McDonald’s locations across Canada.
