The province of Alberta is teaming up with fast food chains to distribute free non-medical masks to Albertans who need them.

Health Minister Tyler Shandro announced Friday that A&W, McDonald’s and Tim Hortons will distribute non-medical masks at no cost through their drive-thru locations across the province, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Around 20 million masks will be distributed to Albertans at no cost to them as part of the partnership.

Distribution is scheduled to begin in early June

The initiative is part of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy to safely begin removing public health restrictions and reopen our economy.
