The CBC is bringing back its hit competition series Battle of the Blades later this fall, the public broadcaster announced Tuesday.
The revamped series features athletes from two of Canada’s favourite sports — figure skating and hockey — as they pair up in a live, high-stakes figure skating competition. While the CBC said additional details will be released later this spring, the broadcaster did confirm that participants will once again compete for the charity of their choice.
Originally launched in back in 2009, Battle of the Blades ran four seasons through 2013 before being cancelled. It remains the highest-rated original English-language Canadian format of all time.
CBC did not reveal the identity of participants competing in the season 5 revival.
