Canada’s Bell Media is partnering with Nashville’s Big Machine Label Group, which owns Taylor Swift’s label, for a new singing competition show to discover and cultivate the next “pop superstar,” via a variety of platforms.

The centrepiece of the partnership will be a unique television format that will leverage Bell Media’s reach and wide range of platforms to showcase musicians on the national and international stage.

Bell and BMLG say they plan to take the format beyond Canada to ultimately become a conduit for discovering new voice talent worldwide. The deal was announced in a joint press release Monday.

“Bell Media has a track record of success in live music production, extensive platforms, and leading promotion of homegrown talent in many areas,” said Scott Borchett, founder, president, and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group.

“Together, our strengths make us strong partners to lift this global project off the ground,” Borchett added.

“Bell Media builds upon its commitment to artist development with this new initiative, and with whom better to align than the best in the business, Scott Borchetta,” Bell Media President for Broadcasting and Content Randy Lennox said.

No other details have been released at this time.
