Wendy’s is one of the few, if not the only major fast-food chain operating in Canada that doesn’t offer breakfast – but that’s all about change. The company today announced that breakfast will be available at all Wendy’s locations across the country starting in spring 2022.
While the official Canadian breakfast menu remains under wraps, Wendy’s did offer a tease, saying it will be “bringing a twist to familiar flavours,” and paying “homage to fan favourites, like the Breakfast Baconator.”
The Breakfast Baconator – the brand’s signature breakfast item in the US – features a grilled sausage, American cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, a fresh-cracked grade A egg, more cheese and more bacon all covered in Swiss cheese sauce and sandwiched between a premium bun.
Breakfast fans in Canada can also expect custom blended coffee made specifically for Canadian consumers, freshly cracked Canadian eggs on every sandwich, savoury applewood-smoked bacon, freshly-cooked in every restaurant every day and biscuits served warm from the oven.
To prepare for the launch, Wendy’s says Canadian franchisees plan to hire approximately 1,600 new employees to support the breakfast expansion.
