Tim Hortons says it will eliminate around 200 million cups a year by ending the practice of double cupping by offering fans recyclable cardboard sleeves for their hot drinks instead.

The brand’s cardboard coffee sleeves are made from 100 per cent recycled material and are 100 per cent recyclable.

Double cupping will officially end at all Tim Hortons locations nationwide on November 4, 2020.

Tim Hortons also plans to launch a pilot project at select locations in Vancouver where they’ll be testing a new hot beverage cup with a lining that is recyclable and compostable. The test is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
