The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed yet another victim as The Newfoundland Social Club in Dartmouth, NS says farewell after more than 40 years of hosting Down East dancing, darts, entertainment and good friends.

The following statement appeared on the Club’s Facebook page on June 29, 2020:

To All our Members and Guests

It is with great sadness that today, June 29th, 2020 we say farewell to the Newfoundland Social Club. Over forty years of good times has come to an end. Covid in our midst was the final straw. With the numbers going down over the years and the uncertainty of what the future will bring, the new normal, social distancing, wearing masks, the new protocols put in place, we had to make a tough decision. We would like to thank everyone for your past patronage, all the members and guests, all the Bands that played at the Club, DJ Joe Mackinnon for all the fun Wednesdays, for the staff who served you, and for all the friendships made along the way. They say when one door closes, another door opens. Hopefully when we can look back at 2020 as “the year of the covid” a new door will open with another great dance floor.

Again, many thanks to All who made the Newfoundland Club a place to remember.
