Just in time for the April 30, 2018 personal income tax filing deadline, PayPal Canada announced Thursday that they have partnered with Payment Source, allowing Canadians to pay their federal taxes via the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) website using PayPal.

PayPal says more that 6.5 million Canadian PayPal members can now use their bank account, credit card, Visa debit card or the balance in their account to pay their federal taxes owed.

“Tax season is stressful. We wanted to help ease the pain and make it convenient for our customers to use their PayPal account to pay their federal taxes,” PayPal Canada’s president Paul Parisi said in a news release.

Additionally, more than 250,000 Canadian small businesses that use PayPal can now pay their corporate federal taxes using their balance, bank account or credit card in their PayPal account.

Payments made via the third-party service Payment Source using PayPal are completed on the Payment Source platform are subject to a convenience fee of 2.29 per cent.

According to the CRA, more than 80 per cent of Canadians file their tax returns electronically.
