A police shooting at the Elm Street transit terminal in Sudbury, Ontario on Sunday has been captured on video and posted to Facebook.

The video, posted by Facebook user Jeremy Terry, appears to show Greater Sudbury Police officers inside the bus terminal as they confront, and shoot an aggressive male as he charges police.

In a statement released Sunday, police said around 6:30 p.m. on April 1, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a weapons complaint involving an individual at the Greater Sudbury Transit Terminal.

“Upon arrival, the officer engaged with the aggressive man and subsequently applied force that resulted in injuries requiring the man to be transported to hospital. The man remains in hospital,” said the news release.

In a separate news release, Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the police-involved shooting of a 24-year-old man in Sudbury.

The police watchdog says four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the incident.

The SIU is urging anyone with information or video evidence of the shooting to contact the SIU’s lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
