An RCMP officer got the surprise of his life during a routine traffic stop in Banff when a cougar was captured jaywalking on his patrol car’s dash camera.
The video shows the officer talking to a local motorist in a truck during a traffic stop as the four-legged cougar can be seen crossing at an intersection just a few metres away. The officer can be seen turning his head to look at the large cat as it exits the intersection.
In response to the sighting, the Banff National Park took to social media reminded people to be “wildsmart” when visiting the town and the park.
