Toronto police say an attack on an 11-year-old girl in a hijab last week did not happen as reported.
“After a detailed investigation, police have determined that the events described in the original news release did not happen,” police said in a news release issued late Monday morning. “The investigation is concluded.”
On Friday, Khawlah Noman reported a man attempted to twice cut off her hijab with scissors as she walked to school.
At the time, Toronto police indicated the attack was being investigated as a hate crime.
