Former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney is no stranger to singing for US presidents. Saturday night, while attending a fundraising gala with US President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago Palm Beach estate, Mulroney was invited to the stage by fellow Canadian David Foster to sing a tune he performed alongside another Republican US president more than 30 years ago.
Foster said Mulroney could sing either Danny Boy or When Irish Eyes Are Smiling. Mulroney chose the latter of course, which he sang alongside Ronald Reagan in 1985 in what became known as the Shamrock Summit in Quebec City.
As Mulroney took the mic, he jokingly apologized in advance, saying “Mr. President, I hope this doesn’t fracture Canadian-U.S. relations. I apologize in advance.”
You can check out Mulroney’s pipes in the two videos below.
