Transport Canada has issued a recall notice for 11,500 Arctic Cat snowmobiles that are prone to developing cracks in the fuel tank that could lead to a fire causing injury and damage to property.
According to the notice, certain fuel blends and after-market fuel additives could affect the fuel tank plastic and allow the fuel pump mounting flange to develop a crack, potentially causing a fuel leak. The leaking fuel could lead to a fire.
The recall involves 2007, 2008 and 2009 model years. If you own one of the models listed below, you should contact your dealer. Meanwhile, Transport Canada is advising owners not to operate their snowmobiles until the defect has been repaired.
