A new poll released by the market research company Insights West suggests a majority of Canadians would support legislation to ban distracted walking.

Insights West found that 66 per cent of Canadians support their own municipality enacting distracted walking legislation, including 88 per cent of Canadians aged 55 and over and 74 per cent of Quebecers.

According to Insights West, the online poll included 1,013 people from across the Canada.

Some Canadian municipalities are contemplating distracted walking legislation that would ban the use of hand-held cell phones while crossing the street, or entering intersections.
