Things are starting to look up for the homeless living in Victoria’s tent city. The province is stepping up and installing flush toilets and portable showers.
The tent city is set up on the lawn of Victoria’s court house, where between 90 and 100 people have been calling home since last spring.
Neighbours living near the tent city refer to the site as a ghetto, and say they have collected discarded needles, human waste and other garbage left behind by the occupants, according to the CBC.
Officials with the provincial government hope the new measures will help resolve concerns about the bad odours and overall cleanliness of the site.
