An Ontario woman took an unplanned midnight swim in Lake Huron Thursday after following her car’s GPS directions straight into Lake Huron.

In fairness to the 23-year-old driver, it was dark, foggy and rainy in Tobermory, Ontario when the unfortunate incident occurred.

According to provincial police, the woman was approaching a boat launch on Little Tub Harbour when she made a wrong turn.

Luckily for the driver, the car stayed afloat long enough for her to escape by rolling down the window and making the 30 metre swim to shore in the frigid 4C water.

Police said the woman, from Kitchener, did not suffer any injuries.

Authorities were able to remove the car from the lake Friday morning.
