The Tall ships will be returning to Nova Scotia during a trans-Atlantic race set for 2017 as part of the 150th anniversary of Canada.

The Rendezvous 2017 Regatta will feature 40 tall ships as they cover 7,000 nautical miles while visiting six countries. Halifax is the start of the final leg of the race.

An outport program is being developed that will see some of the ships visiting several coastal communities in Nova Scotia. In response, the Nova Scotia government announced it will provide $1.5 million over two years to help local communities welcome visitors and tall ships to their ports.

Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador Bluenose II will also take part in the tall ships visit.

Dates for events and specific location of visits by the ships to other Nova Scotia ports will be confirmed over coming months.
