Gene Williams, 69, of Saint John, N.B., has pleaded guilty after being captured on video mowing down a 23-year-old man in a Saint John, N.B. parking lot.
In a video that captured the sordid incident, Williams can be seen driving his black Audi SUV straight into the younger man, sending him flying into the air and slamming back down to the ground.
Police say Williams and the victim, identified as Timothy Tyler, got into a dispute at a separate location about 25 minutes outside of Saint John. Williams reportedly pursued the car Tyler was a passenger in to a parking lot in Saint John, where he intentionally mowed Tyler down after he exited the vehicle.
“Oh my God, he just hit my friend,” the woman capturing the attack on video screamed. The woman was on the phone with police at the time of the incident.
“He smoked him,” she said.
Williams pleaded guilty to assault with a weapon, dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an incident after using his motor vehicle to intentionally hit the man.
The victim was taken to the Saint John Regional Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
