Frankie MacDonald, Canada’s most famous, and most watched amateur weatherman has received YouTube’s Silver Play Button, for achieving more than 100,000 subscribers.
MacDonald first took YouTube by storm back in 2013 when his unique delivery of weather forecasts caught the attention of news media, and fans alike around the world. He’s been going viral even since.
McDonald, 32, of Sydney, Nova Scotia, is now aiming for YouTube’s Gold Play Button, which is awarded to YouTubers that surpass one million subscribers. Beyond that, a Diamond Play Button is awarded to channels with more than 10 million subscribers, while the Ruby Play Button is reserved for channels that have achieved 50 million or more subscribers.
As of Sunday, February 12, 2017, McDonald had 124,841 subscribers and his videos had received 24,122,450 views.
