Alanis Morissette Ripped Off To The Tune Of $7 Million

Canada’s Alanis Morissette was ripped off to the tune of $7 million by her former business manager Jonathan Todd Schwartz.

Schwartz, 48, of Los Angeles, admitted to embezzling millions from the singer and two other clients, according to a statement released by US prosecutors Wednesday. He agreed to plead guilty to several federal charges related to the thefts.

The former business manager admitted to embezzling close to $7 million from Morissette over a period of four years between May 2010 and January 2014.

Schwartz also admitted to stealing $2.25 million from two other unnamed clients. He was working for GSO Business Management at the time of the thefts.

If convicted, Schwartz faces up to 23 years in prison, however his plea deal calls for a sentence ranging between four and six years.

Morissette, a dual citizen of Canada and the US was born on June 1, 1974 in Ottawa, Canada. She now resides with her family in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California.
