Canadians will be able to get their fingers on the new Nintendo Switch video game console starting March 3, 2017 at the hefty price of $399.99.

Nintendo Canada took to Twitter on Friday with the big Canadian release news:

According to Nintendo Japan, 50 software makers, including Sega and Electronic Arts will be offering a lineup 80 games for the new Switch console. Nintendo also promised a slew their own branded games such as a Legend of Zelda, which will be available in conjunction of the debut of the Switch on March 3.

The Switch is a versatile gaming system that offers the ability to be enjoyed as a regular handled system, and more.

If you want to challenge a friend with in your favourite game, place the Switch on a table top, detach the wireless Joy-Con controllers from each side to start a multiplayer game.

Online Play

Nintendo also plans to offer a paid online playing subscription similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Live and Sony’s PlayStation Network. The service will include access to free games and will not be subjected to regional locks.

You’ll be able to play compatible co-op and competitive games online by signing in with your Nintendo Account. Online play will be free for Nintendo Account holders until their paid online service launches in fall 2017.

This service lets Nintendo Switch owners enjoy online multiplayer gaming as well as a dedicated smartphone app that connects to your Nintendo Switch system and helps you connect with friends for online play sessions.

Battery life can last for more than six hours, but will vary depending on the software and usage conditions. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be played for roughly 3 hours on a single charge.

Internal memory

32GB of internal memory, a portion of which is reserved for use by the system. Users can easily expand storage space using microSDXC cards.

6.2-inch, multi-touch capacitive touch screen; can display a resolution of 1280 x 720.
