The New Brunswick Court of Appeal has ordered a new trial for Dennis Oland. Oland was convicted of second-degree murder in the 2011 death of his millionaire father Richard in December.
Richard Oland, 69, was found bludgeoned to death in his Saint John office on July 7, 2011. The forensic pathologist, Dr. Ather Naseemuddin, counted 45 wounds to Richard’s hands, neck, and head, during autopsy.
A jury convicted Dennis Oland in December, 2015. He was sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for parole for at least 10 years.
