Candice Rochelle Bobb has been identified as the pregnant victim of a targeted shooting in Toronto’s Rexdale neighbourhood Sunday night. Her baby is in stable condition following an emergency caesarean section, according to police.

Bobb, 35, of Malton, was reportedly in the back seat of a car near John Garland Boulevard and Jamestown Crescent when a second vehicle driving in the opposite direction opened fire.

According to CTV, Bobb was struck in the chest and rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Three other people in the vehicle at the time of the shooting were uninjured.

“For some reason, only known to the offender at this point, that vehicle was certainly targeted,” Det-Sgt Mike Carbone told reporters Monday morning.

Carbone appealed to anyone with information, or who had recorded video footage in the area, whether from their home or their vehicle, to come forward to police.
